About

"As a trusted source through the years for so many of my stories, Morris has taught me much about courage, perseverance, and hope. She's simply a force for good in the world."

- Nancy Wozny, Editor in Chief, Arts & Culture Texas

Performance Experience and Honors:

Madison currently performs as a Principal dancer with the Inland Pacific Ballet in California (since 2017). Formerly, she danced with the Houston Ballet (Corps de Ballet) and Anaheim Ballet. She has performed in works by several acclaimed choreographers such as Sir Frederick Ashton, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, John Cranko, George Balanchine, Sir Ben Stevenson, Mark Morris, and Christopher Wheeldon. She has also performed in world premiers such as Stanton Welch's "Marie" and "La Bayadere." She has performed throughout the United States at festivals and galas and has been a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) since 2010.

Prior to joining Houston Ballet, she performed and toured as a member of Houston Ballet II. During her time with Houston Ballet II, Madison was honored with two awards from Houston Ballet Academy. She was also recognized nationally when invited to attend YoungArts Week 2010 in Miami as a Finalist through the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA). Upon attending and performing, she was awarded a grant by the national foundation. While her primary home is the stage, Madison is also a SAG-eligible performing artist with experience in commercial dance and modeling.

Madison has appeared in a number of publications including a book (i.e. "The Telling Image") and magazines ranging from local to national (i.e. Dance Magazine, Pointe, Dance Advantage, Arts & Culture Texas, etc).

Teaching and Coaching:

Madison's first introduction to teaching was serving as a Teacher's Assistant at Houston Ballet Academy. Since that initial exposure, she has gained extensive experience and acclaim as an instructor and coach. She has served on staff at Anaheim Ballet, McCoy Rigby Arts (Head Ballet Instructor), Inland Pacific Ballet, Orange County Performing Arts Academy, and is currently ranked the #1 Dance Coach on CoachUp.

In 2017, Madison founded a "Musical Accompanist Internship" to train talented musicians in how to accompany ballet classes.

Madison has also served as a movement specialist and coach for a wide array of athletes including gymnasts, basketball players, and figure skaters. She has served as a Dance Coach for gymnasts (on balance beam and floor) at camps such as the Dominique Moceanu Summer Gymnastics Camp (Ohio) and workshops at the World Champions Centre (TX). As a Movement Coach for Genesis Hoops (CA), she provides specialized training in movement fundamentals (derived from dance) for basketball players.

Training:

Madison began ballet and gymnastics at the age of four. For years gymnastics was her primary focus: She trained up to level 9 and competed at the state and regional levels. As a gymnast training in the north Houston area, she trained under several Olympians (Alexander Alexandrov, Dominique Moceanu, Deliana Vodenicharova, Roumen Yordanov, and Achim Fassbender). She was first introduced to ballet when her parents enrolled her in classes at The Woodlands Civic Ballet (The Woodlands, TX). Her training intensified upon being accepted into the Houston Ballet Ben Stevenson Academy in her early teens. After three years studying on a merit-based scholarship, she was accepted into Houston Ballet II. She performed and toured with the second company for two years until being offered a Houston Ballet contract on her 18th birthday. Summer intensives she attended include School of America Ballet (NYC), Houston Ballet, and Ad Deum Dance Company (modern dance).
